An exceptional career that covers teaching, supervision and examining

 

As part of the work at the University of Reading (2007-2012), the Charlie Waller Institute under Roz developed a range of postgraduate certificate and diploma courses, largely associated with the Government's 'Improving Access to Psychological Therapies' programme. This included training in 'low intensity' and 'high intensity' psychological interventions, leadership training, and training for supervisors. Together with key colleagues and collaborators, they won contracts to deliver training both for the adult IAPT programme and also for the Children and Young People's training programme. Their training also involved ensuring the world leaders in developing psychological interventions provided training for practitioners as part of CPD as well as students learning new therapeutic techniques. The Charlie Waller Institute won a Training and Learning award from the University of Reading in 2010.

She currently teaches on a wide range of topics and courses across the UK and abroad, including IAPT courses, Clinical Psychology Doctorate courses and Masters courses. She has been an external examiner for Doctoral Psychology Courses and examiner for national and international PhD students. She has a strong interest in developing the careers of the next generation of clinical researchers and enjoy supervising PhD students as well as the doctoral research of trainee clinical psychologists. She is keen to ensure the dissemination of best-practice in mental health and have given talks on a variety of mental health topics to the general public, including schools.

She also teaches Undergraduate and MRC Psych students, Clinical Psychology Doctorate students and participants on Oxford and Norwich Cognitive Therapy courses. Topics include assessment and cognitive-behavioural approaches to anxiety and eating disorders, relevance of research to clinical practice. She is also teaching on Improving Access to Psychological Therapies training courses.

She is a national and international examiner of D.Clin.Psy. and Ph.D. theses.

Her work includes supervision of D.Phil,  D.Clin.Psy., Masters and undergraduate students, with 100% being completed within time-frame. Previous topics included cognitive-behavioural approaches to understanding and treatment of perfectionism, body image and anxiety disorders.

She has founded certificate and diploma courses in evidence-based psychological treatment, leadership and management.
